Im so incredibly disappointed with Tool’s latest album that took a fucking decade to make. I was hoping for another one of these. Or maybe something that was generic djent. Instead it was just boring and unimpressive. But its okay, I can still listen to all of 10,000 days any day! Vicarious and Jambi were songs that never left my 2gb ipod nano back in middle school, no matter how prized that space was for tunes.

Its okay, its just not good enough for how damn long it took. I will give it another listen though anyways since I love Tool too much to dislike it after just a few listens. Ive been listening to a lot of random djent bands on youtube lately, cant hurt to throw more tool in there!

I’m curious as to why you don’t like Fear I noculum.
For me, it seems like they stuck to the formula, didn’t experiment with their sound much. Fear Inoculum is very much in line with Lateralus and 10,000 Days musically. Which is good, but also a tiny bit disappointing. I think if APC didn’t push a new album within a year of Tool, there might have been more experimentation here. Overall, i like it tho.

Lack of experimentation was probably my issue with it. I dont want a rehash of the same formula. I wanted something new and mindblowing. I wanted it to be like the first time I ever heard 10,000 days. But as I said in the other comment to Arch Duke, I need to give it a few more listens, maybe it will grow on me. I really need to buy it to so that I can just have it on the go.

Different strokes for different folks, but i’ve been listening to them for over 20 years and loved it. Each album is very different, and my mood largely dictates which I’ll listen to.
What don’t you like about it?

well like you said, each is different. Fear In oculum doesnt really feel different. Its like repeating the old formula just to get an album out. But I need to listen to it more with a different mindset and see if theres something unique i like about it.

What does it sound like to you? I can hear similarities with Aenima, Lateralus, and 10,000 days. If anything, I’d say its closest to Aenima, but even that’s a stretch.
